Description: All Orange County youth are invited to participate in the Kids Voting North Carolina Program on Tuesday, November 5, at the Bonnie B. Davis Environment & Agricultural Center or the Orange County Public Library, both in Hillsborough. 4-H membership is not required to participate.  Any child in grades K-12 is invited to participate throughout the day!

Locations:
  • Bonnie B Davis Center, 1020 US Hwy 70 W (across from the Division of Motor Vehicles)
  • Orange County Public Library, 137 W Margaret Ln (Second Floor)

Time (drop in anytime between...):
  • 9:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M. at the Davis Center
  • 11:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M. at the Library

Activities Planned
  • Mock Elections.  Have the opportunity to vote on the same candidates as your parents.  This includes races from President to County Commissioner and everything in between. Experience what it is like to participate in the voting process.  You'll even get an "I Voted" sticker upon completion of the voting activity.
  • Literacy Activities.  We are pulling together some of our favorite books about community service, government, elections, and civic engagement.  Pull up a chair, relax, and enjoy a good book!
  • Crafts.  Come make your very own "I Voted" button and place a wish for your community on our wishing tree.
  • And more!

How much does it cost to participate? This event is absolutely free for all participants.  This event is brought to you by Orange County Cooperative 4-H and the Orange County Public Library.
How Can You Prepare to Participate?
A talented group of Orange County 4-H teens has worked diligently to prepare a non-partisan youth voter guide with great information on this year's elections, the candidates running for various offices, the ways each position impacts our lives, and ways to get involved in the democratic process. Participating youth are encouraged to review that guide at go.ncsu.edu/kidsvotingorange, as well as other information available to them about the candidates, and come ready to make an informed vote.

How Can I Find Out Who Won In the Mock Youth Election?
At the conclusion of Election Day, we will post the results of the mock youth election to the Orange County 4-H Facebook Page. While the votes in this mock election do not actually count toward the General Election results, we are still excited to see how the youth of Orange County cast their votes and compare their results to the General Election results.

Note:  The Orange County Public Library and the Bonnie B Davis Environment & Agricultural Center are NOT official voting precincts.  Adults should contact the Orange County Board of Elections if they need assistance with locating their voting precinct.
